Gunjull Jagun

Contemporary Aboriginal Artist, Holly Sanders, is a proud Bundjalung woman. Through her art, she aims to share her stories, culture, and Country in a contemporary way.

 

Titled ‘Gunjull Jagun’ meaning Beautiful Country, this collection is about being spiritually and culturally connected to Country. The land, sky, waters, flora, and fauna together form ‘Country’. We sing, celebrate, and dance about Country. There are no animals, mountains, trees or stars in the sky that is not interconnected with First Nations culture or kin. Country is inherent to our identity and culture and is more than a place. Our ancestors walked this sacred and beautiful Country for millennia and continue to live on in the land, waters, flora, fauna, and the sky.
