A versatile artist working in traditional and digital media, Lamai Anne has been practising and challenging her artistic curiosity for much of her life. Her working career began in the sign and design fields before moving on to textile design with a major Australian retailer.
Completely self-taught, each of her meticulously illustrated pieces showcases a love of Australian flora and fauna, with a strong focus on colour. It is often the change in seasons that inspires her the most; the way a dormant flowering gum bursts to life in summer, then leaves behind beautiful gum nuts by autumn.
Originally from New Zealand, Lamai Anne currently resides in a semi-rural Australian town at the foot of a national park and uses her setting as inspiration for her artworks. Working out of a quiet home studio, she divides her time between her textile design work, family and art.
