Hey there! It's finally here, the long-awaited June long weekend! We're so excited to celebrate King's Birthday and enjoy an extra lie-in. There's still so much going on with Vivid Sydney, and we don't want you to miss out on any of the fun, so here's what we'll be doing this Long Weekend!
VIVID SYDNEY
First up, Vivid Sydney is back and better than ever. This annual festival of light, music, and ideas is a must-see for anyone in Sydney. From May 24th to June 15th, you can witness some of the most stunning light shows and installations across the city. This year's highlights include the Sydney Opera House projection, the interactive light walk at The Rocks, and the mesmerizing light installations at Taronga Zoo. So, grab your friends and family and head out to experience the magic of Vivid Sydney.
SOFT CENTRE
We'll be heading to Redfern to experience Carriageworks' SOFT CENTRE, which is taking over the entire precinct for one day only. For 10 hours straight, we'll be immersed in experimental music, dance, and art from creators all over the world. We're especially excited to see the immersive A/V concerts and cutting-edge digital artworks.
MARKET HOPPING
Enjoy an early morning (Since we have three of them!) and go looking for fresh produce and artisanal goods amongst Sydney's plethora of markets. You might want to check out the Carriageworks Farmers Markets, the Northside Produce Market, or the Marrickville Organic Food and Farmers Market. Or, if you're in the mood for some vintage finds or antiques, the Rozelle Collectors Market or The Rocks Market are great options. The Entertainment Quarter and Bondi Markets are also popular choices for those looking for unique treasures and delicious treats. No matter which market you choose, you're sure to find something that catches your eye and satisfies your taste buds.
PICNIC AT THE BOTANIC GARDENS
No long weekend is complete without a picnic in the sun (Hopefully if the weather behaves!).f If you're looking for a picturesque spot to enjoy a picnic, head over to the Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney. The gardens offer stunning views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, making it the perfect backdrop for a relaxing afternoon. You can set up your picnic blanket in one of the many popular spots, such as Mrs. Macquarie's Chair, the Palm Grove Centre, or the Rose Garden. After your meal, take a stroll through the gardens and explore the various plant species, including the rare Wollemi Pine. With so much natural beauty and tranquility, the Royal Botanic Garden is a must-visit spot for locals and tourists alike.
So, there you have it, folks. A list of some of the best things to do in Sydney this long weekend. Whether you're into light shows, shopping, or family-friendly activities, there's something for everyone. So, get out there and make the most of this long weekend in our beautiful city!
